AVINA STIFUNG is mainly active in Switzerland. But the foundation also supports European initiatives dealing with global issues, as well as private Swiss aid projects in Latin America.

The foundation primarily supports individual leaders with an entrepreneurial spirit, who develop initiatives in the areas of social and ecological sustainability. Traditional organiza-tions and projects can also be considered if their contribution to the society and the environ-ment is significant. AVINA STIFUNG prefers high-quality projects with the potential to inspire and to stimulate additional activities in the given area.

AVINA STIFTUNG fosters networking among individuals and organizations dealing with similar issues, with the goal of achieving a broader impact with its grant making.

As founder member of SwissFoundations, the association of grant-making foundations in Switzerland, AVINA STIFTUNG also engages in promoting the foundation sector in Switzerland. Together with other SwissFoundations members AVINA STIFTUNG has initiated the Centre of Philanthropy Studies - CEPS - at the University of Basel.
